Ziprasidone is an atypical antipsychotic that is approved for the treatment of adults with schizophrenia. To date, only a limited number of studies have been published on the use of ziprasidone for treating neuropsychiatric conditions in children and adolescents. This report describes ziprasidone treatment of two adolescents with severe psychotic illness who had unsuccessful trials of alternative antipsychotic medications. These patients presented with hallucinations and grossly disorganized speech and behavior. Further study is needed to determine if these findings can be generalized.
